UPS Plane Crash in Kentucky

A tragic UPS cargo plane crash in Louisville, Kentucky, has claimed multiple lives and sparked a large-scale investigation by U.S. aviation authorities. The incident occurred around 5:15 p.m. local time on November 4, 2025, when a UPS McDonnell Douglas, operating as Flight 2976 from Louisville to Honolulu, went down shortly after take-off from Runway at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport.

Witnesses reported seeing flames erupt from the aircraft’s left wing moments after take-off. Security footage later confirmed that the left-side engine detached from the aircraft seconds before it lost control. The 34-year-old cargo jet then crashed into an industrial zone just south of the airport, triggering multiple structure fires and a large debris field stretching nearly half a mile.

Emergency services responded within minutes, but the crash caused extensive damage to nearby businesses, including a petroleum recycling facility and an auto-parts warehouse. Authorities have confirmed at least nine fatalities, including the three UPS crew members onboard. Several others on the ground were injured, with at least 11 people hospitalized — some in critical condition due to burns and smoke inhalation.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are leading the investigation. Both flight recorders have been recovered and sent to Washington D.C. for analysis. Officials have not yet released the cause of the crash, but early reports suggest a catastrophic mechanical failure related to the engine separation. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue recovery operations and assess the full extent of the damage. Watch Clip
