Robotics and AI Reaching Industrial Scale in Logistics

The logistics industry is crossing a threshold that has been promised for years but rarely delivered: humanoid robots are now arriving in warehouses and sorting centers at genuine commercial scale.

Figure announced this week that it is now building one humanoid robot every hour at its BotQ factory—a 24x jump in production speed in under 120 days. More than 350 of its third-generation Figure 03 robots have already shipped. Just as importantly, the bigger fleet is making the robots smarter: Figure's Helix AI now lets them see the world through onboard cameras, so they can climb stairs and handle uneven floors without any human guidance.

Beijing-based RobotEra is deploying its L7 humanoid across more than ten logistics centers

The race isn't confined to the United States. Beijing-based RobotEra is deploying its L7 humanoid across more than ten logistics centers operated by China Post, SF Express, and other major carriers. Several sites report the robots already operating at over 85% of human-level efficiency, running 24/7. Backed by a recent $200 million raise, RobotEra plans batch deliveries at the thousand-unit scale this quarter, with persistent rumors that UPS is evaluating Figure's robots for similar deployments.

What makes this moment different from previous robotics hype cycles is the convergence of three factors: manufacturing throughput, real-world fleet data, and AI models capable of generalizing across tasks. Every robot Figure ships becomes a data-collection engine that trains the next generation—a flywheel that compounds with every shipped unit.

For supply chain operators wrestling with labor shortages and rising costs, the question is shifting from if to when.
